Darwin Dilettantes Players

  • Alan Spring - Acka

The backbone of our contingent from Coleraine, Victoria. Acka joins elite company this year, playing in his 10th tournament for the Dilettantes. Undertaking a rigorous preparation in Pattaya prior to the Sixes, we can expect him to be in fine fettle when he hits Chiang Mai. One of the many Richmond Tigers supporters amongst the Dilettantes, backstops like Alex Rance and is expecting nothing less than another flag in Chiang Mai.

  • Gary Hancock - Loso

Don't be surprised to see Loso being greeted by the locals as a fellow local, after his long stint in the kingdom in 2017. One of our younger players, hobbles around like a man twice his age after his bowling stints in the Sixes. Other hobbies apart from Thailand are his wife and baby son Rhyker, who we can't wait to get old enough to pull on the Dilettante colours.

  • Greg Bicknell - Bickers

Fine upstanding gentleman (and this year's pen portrait editor), has played in most editions of Chiang Mai Sixes since their inception. Always looks forward to playing Thai Thevada, good to help the local lads build confidence through beating the farang.

  • Matt Gladwin - the Phantom

Some conjecture surrounds his presence at this years tournament. If he joins us from Adelaide, he will be our sole virgin tourist for 2018. A Darwin CC player for several years, has been in a good pasture since moving to SA.

  • Rhys "Nappies" Rider

Our sole (and very rare) representative from the Northern Hemisphere, has been recruited for his influence on the umpiring fraternity. A Yarrambat player last year, we have heard rumour that he is the cause of their demise in 2018 as they could not afford to replace the numerous toilet bowls that Nappies sprayed last year.

  • Roger Weckert - Heavy Hammer

Roger still manages to be a good bloke under the heavy responsibility of being a poor, beknighted Crows supporter. The heavy hammer has been in serious training for this year, doing multiple laps of his spa - beware! Still searching for the elusive Thai low alcohol beer.

  • Russell Hunter - Rusty

Watch out Borat, here comes Rusty! Beware his shooter recipes.

  • Troy Harvey - Harvs

Harvs returns to the Dilettantes for another stint, must be getting close to the highest number of different teams anyone has played for at Chiang Mai. A well known character at the Sixes and always happy to help out with the kid's duck fund.

Darwin Dilettantes Supporters

  • Chris Heron - Bird

Wally is a man with tentacles everywhere, all going a million mph. OIC all off field activities for the Dilettantes, his cricketing skills unfortunately lost to generations many years ago.

  • Glen Cameron - Pouch

Pouch has dragged himself away from the surgeons knife in the back paddock, sold a couple of lambs and is back in Chiang Mai for this tenth tour. A keen judge of football, is also a Tigers supporter, here to give the Heavy Hammer a hard time. (Also keen to reacquaint himself with the laundry lady)

  • Mark Staude - Walter

Only comes to Chiang Mai to celebrate his birthday at Number One Bar, is the teams dance instructor. Took on the role last year with some aplomb with a Scottish sword dance at the Downunder Pub, his team mates are looking for similar leadership this year.

  • Simon Fry - Bear

Back to Chiang Mai to undergo some intensive one on one with Tentacles. Reputedly the best train builder in the vicinity of the Victoria-South Australia border, he is the go to guy for alternative transportation methods.
