Perth Postels

This is what is going to be the 23rd Tour to Chiang Mai for the most special Chiang Mai Sixes 2018. A lot has changed in Chiang Mai since our first tour in 1996, however what has not changed is the goodwill and Friendship from wonderful cricket which the Perth Postels always display when on and off the cricket field. The team is based on the 2nd oldest club in Perth, WA, Australia, the western part of vast Australia. The Perth Postels recently on 11 February 2018 had a big re-union with players from over the years attending. There was a photo displayed of when the Perth Postels won the Cup Division on 1999. Last year we enjoyed more success, along with varying other awards over the years. Please feel free to pop by and say hello and enjoy a drink and chat with us. Or also please come and join us at one of our many social functions held throughout the week.

Perth Postels Players

  • Alan "Danger" Lawson

A huge welcome to Danger for his (we hope) first visit to Chiang Mai and this most special event. A long time local friend of Cat's, he loves a good time and has a passion for cricket and dancing! Played cricket at school and has taken up again, where he does very well with a good eye for the cricket ball. He is very fit and fast in the field, but also like most Perth Postels he loves a beer, a long chat and enjoys to have a good time.

  • Alan Beattie

A welcome addition to the Postels for 2018 for what will be his first tour to Chiang Mai for the Sixes. A very handy Wicket-Keeper and can blast a few balls early in his innings, what is certainly needed this year for the team. Is originally a Country lad from Western Australia, he is locally from Perth. There is no doubt that he will very much enjoy this fun event.

  • Andrew "Tips" Tippell

Andrews first trip out of Surrey and to the wonders of Thailand - what could possibly go wrong? A virgin on and off the field this young buck who turns (the ball) both ways is looking for plenty of action chasing the amber nectar. Try and avoid conversations about Brentford unless you’re looking for any early night. We look forward to some much needed speed around the field this year.

  • David "Newy" Newham

A huge welcome to another Perth Postels Virgin for this years exciting 23rd Tour for the team. Newy is a good batsman who while on tour last year in Belgrade, Serbia made a fantastic hundred. Also a tight bowler with a good arm, he will be a most welcome addition to the Postels line up. Also very well known for enjoying things "of quality" as no doubt he will find off the field while with us in Chiang Mai. Looking forward to seeing his accommodation choice!

  • Ian "Reds" Liddell

A huge welcome to Reds who will be making his much awaited debut for the Perth Postels later in the week. A former member of the Chiang Mai Sixes Committee and Commentator, Reds will really enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in Chiang Mai with the Postels. Known to clobber the ball, bowl on the spot and has a lightning arm in the field. Also will appreciate some time to relax and to enjoy semi-retirement.

  • Michael "Cat" Maher

Very happy to be able to be back on the field this year after surgery to replace his hip which kept him out of last years event. A stalwart of the Perth Postels and Chiang Mai Sixes, this will be his 23rd Tour to this wonderful event. Always very positive about this brilliant tournament and the game of cricket sixes. Also most keen off the field and happiest when with friends at a nice bar around lovely Chiang Mai.

  • Trevor "Langers" Langworth

Trevor returns to the Chiang Mai sixes for his 7th tour there and first with the Perth Postels. Well known for his exploits off the pitch, he is looking to make an impact on the pitch this year, now that he is rumoured to have settled down. He caught up with a lot of us Aussies over the winter who helped dry his eyes through an ashes defeat, so he’s looking to make up for lost time in catching up with many more friends here in 2018!

  • Wayne "Morro" Morrison

A most welcome return from Wayne, thank goodness a couple of those horses of his got up and won some prize money! Building a stable of capable runners to support his habit of Cricket Sixes and other tours in the game he loves very much, cricket. Has made his debut for Western Australia recently, so is looking to build on this with a solid batting & bowling performances at this years special Chiang Mai Sixes event. Well known to "wonder" at night during his enjoyment of Chiang Mai!

Perth Postels Supporters

  • Cyrus "VYRus" Maybud

A much awaited and welcomed return by VYrus to where it all began Sixes Cricket wise, Chiang Mai. He first came to the Sixes many years ago with the Swiss Outfit Cern-Zouz, who with Errol Harris had a brilliant time, but sadly the team never returned. However Cyrus has managed to return many times with the Postels in various roles. He would like a game if possible this year, however is mainly looking forward to going around and chatting with the many friends which he has made over the years in Chiang Mai. Vyrus's main aim for the Cricket Week is to be a "CBB-observer" for the CBB Cricket Club as President.

  • Gerrard "Bulli" Hall

Bulli, along with his good pals Tiny, SatNav and Wurzel will be on hand to support the Perth Postels from Awali whenever they can. Always a pleasure to spend time with these gentlemen and the Perth Postels always make sure that we invite them to our various functions throughout the Chiang Mai Sixes week.

  • Kevin "Crazy German: Buchanan

This man always continues to help and support the Perth Postels however he can. Has had some difficult years business wise in Chiang Mai, but still smiles and gives very positive support to us all in the Postels Group, along with other friends. Always there is "something" happening whenever Kevin in around, doing his best to support in all so many ways!

  • Nuch Fisher

We Postels are very glad that Nuch joins us as Langers partner and a much welcomed team supporter. Her first time in Chiang Mai, she works as a qualified social worker specialising in adult safeguarding! So she will probably have her work cut out for her this week (helping all the team). The Postels are very much looking forward to catching up with her again after a brief introduction last year.

  • Stan "Humpty" Spink

Humpty has been our Perth Postels Team Manager now a number of years where he excels in this most important role. Always supportive and helpful and does a fantastic job producing the Team Tour Cap each year. Loves coming to Chiang Mai before heading down to Phuket to relax the following week.
