Darjeeling Cricket Club are the oldest amateur cricket club, based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. A Western Expat club, members are cricketers from England, South Africa, Australia & New Zealand.
Darjeeling are one of the few teams that have been participating in the Chiang Mai Sixes since its inception. 2014 saw Darjeeling win the Bromley Shield with a hard fought encounter with the Clifton Hill Stray Cats, our most successful year to date.
Our 2016 sponsors are Virtuzone and Compass Middle East Interiors.

David Mariadason
David will be participating for the first time, but doesn't want to have a Sixes overload in his first year, so is flying in on Tuesday lunch time. An Australian who bowls more than he bats and the Darjeeling "Bowler of the Year" in 2014. Dave is also our Cap Sponsor for 2015 & 2016 seasons and will expect the Darjeeling boys to keep a lid on it!!!!
-
Etienne Visser
Our "Quiet South African" is back for his third outing, another of our Bromley Shield Winner in 2014. Etienne is cool under pressure and bowls a mean spell, he can actually bat a bit as well. He will be found sipping cocktails made from his favourite ingredient "Sailor Jerry" in the Darjeeling tent or at The Lotus Pub, with frequent visits to cultural sites!!!
-
Gary Turner
Gary has been a stalwart of Darjeeling since the early years and toured to the Chiang Mai Sixes back in the days when God was a boy!!!! Now resettled back in the UK, he has decided to dip his toe in the water again. Our lighting consultant will make sure our boys are bright, fully charged and switched on during the week.
-
George Appleton
The former Darjeeling Chairman, is having a sojourn, and is acclimatising to the Chiang Mai heat in the lead up to the Tournament. Our Honourary Life Member & Ex Club Captain, will be leading from the front as our Tour Captain. The Lotus will be his preferred watering hole in off duty hours, and the Darjeeling HQ as a starting point for the nightly forays. George once again has stepped in at the 11th hour to commit himself to a playing role.
-
Jason Brown
Our token Kiwi in the side is back for more, his last outing to Chiang Mai resulting in Darjeeling lifting the Bromley Shield. A man who likes to describe himself as an "All Rounder" with the bat, he will use a different one for each innings and will serve up some tasty dishes with his bowling. Our Procurement specialist will also be negotiating hard on everything he comes across
-
Jonathan Houghton
Jon is joining us for the first weekend, providing much needed cover. The Darjeeling "Batsman of the Year" in 2014 & 2015, and our current Dubai Super League skipper, has led us into the DSL final for the second consecutive year. Jon has found his bowling form just at the right time with a 5 fer and 3 fer in his last two outings. He will be looking to reunite with "Brownie" and no doubt bowl over some fair maidens!!!
-
Steve Brown
A first Chiang Mai outing for our Yorkshire PE teacher, as finally it coincides with school holidays. Steve bats, bowls and keeps wicket. He also does a mean rendition on Wonderwall by Oasis, so may be called into action on Pig Picking Night. He will be the life and soul of the party wherever he ends up.
-
Stuart Matthewson
Stuart is celebrating his 10th year as a tourist. Our pie chucker and number six batsman is back fitter and leaner than ever, by his standards anyway. He will be mainly seen nursing a beer, Jack Daniels Honey, Sailor Jerry or any other form of refreshing beverage, and a hangover for most of the week. There is a strong rumour that he might buy a beverage or two to celebrate his 10 year stint!!!!
-
Ian Campbell
Ian is jetting in with Jeremy late in the week, this straight talking Yorkshireman will be shouting words of encouragement at the business end of the week. A great friend of Jack Daniels, he will need to do some catching up with the tour party, but i'm sure he will be up to the task.
-
Jeremy Coulbeck
Jeremy will be paying a flying visit, arriving late in the week to lend support at the business end of the campaign. He will be seen mainly sipping on Jack n something, or asleep in the Darjeeling tent!!!
-
Jim Jeffries
Jim is back with the Darjeeling supporters club, returning for his 14th Sixes, Jim will be vocal about the play both on and off the field. He has equipped himself with a range of new loud shirts, stylish shorts and striking footwear, so Jim claims!!!
-
John Croysdill (JC)
JC is back again, but will be nervously keeping an eye on the results of Sutton and Epsom RFC, who he manages, and is abandoning them as they push for promotion, for the delights of Thailand!!!!
-
Paul Piper
Paul enjoyed his tour so much last year, he has committed his long term future to Darjeeling. We welcome him back with open arms. Paul managed to compete admirably in the off field antics, and we look forward to another competitive performance.
-
Stefan Lundgren
A late entry into the Supporters Club, our token Swede, apparently can drink and party with the best of them, we shall see!! Arriving half way through the week with Dave M, he will have some serious catching up to do.
