Darjeeling are one of the few teams that have been participating in the Chiang Mai Sixes since its inception. 2014 saw Darjeeling win the Bromley Shield with a hard fought encounter with the Clifton Hill Stray Cats, our most successful year to date.

Darjeeling CC Players

  • Ash Banerjee

Ash is another returning Bromley Shield winner from 2014, after missing out in 2015. Champing at the bit for 2016, even though he will miss day one as he jets in from Spain, some poor excuse of a family holiday!!! Our telecomms professional will ensure we are properly communication in all areas of Chiang Mai!!!

  • Chris Dommett

Chris is back for his umpteenth trip to the Sixes, another member of the successful Bromley Shield side from 2014. Chris has now moved to Kuwait to resume his career in banking, so will be making the most of readily available alcoholic beverages Our wicket-keeping batsman, and the most sensible amongst us, will ensure that he keeps the balance book in the black, and that the Darjeeling lads do not get too overdrawn.

  • David Mariadason

David will be participating for the first time, but doesn't want to have a Sixes overload in his first year, so is flying in on the Tuesday morning. An Australian who bowls more than he bats and the Darjeeling "Bowler of the Year" in 2014.

  • Etienne Visser

Our "Quiet South African" is back for his third outing, another of our Bromley Shield Winner in 2014. Etienne is cool under pressure and bowls a mean spell, he can actually bat a bit as well. He will be found sipping cocktails made from his favourite ingredient "Sailor Jerry" in the Darjeeling tent or at The Lotus Pub, with frequent visits to cultural sites!!!

  • Gary Turner

Gary has been a stalwart of Darjeeling since the early years and toured to the Chiang Mai Sixes back in the days when God was a boy!!!! Now resettled back in the UK, he has decided to dip his toe in the water again. Our lighting consultant will make sure our boys are bright, fully charged and switched on during the week.

  • George Appleton

The former Darjeeling Chairman, is having a sojourn, and is acclimatising to the Chiang Mai heat in the lead up to the Tournament. Our Honourary Life Member, will give all players the words of encouragement they need during the games. The Lotus will be his preferred watering hole in off duty hours. George will step in at the 11th hour to commit himself to a playing role, if needed of course.

  • Stuart Matthewson

Stuart is celebrating his 10th year as a tourist. Our pie chucker and number six batsman is back fitter and leaner than ever, by his standards anyway. He will be mainly seen nursing a beer, Jack Daniels Honey, Sailor Jerry or any other form of refreshing beverage, and a hangover for most of the week. There is a strong rumour that he might buy a beverage or two to celebrate his 10 year stint!!!!

Darjeeling CC Supporters

  • Jim Jeffries

Jim is back with the Darjeeling supporters club, returning for his 14th Sixes, Jim will be vocal about the play both on and off the field. He has equipped himself with a range of new loud shirts, stylish shorts and striking footwear, so Jim claims!!!

  • John Croysdill (JC)

JC is back again, but will be nervously keeping an eye on the results of Sutton and Epsom RFC, who he manages, and is abandoning them as they push for promotion, for the delights of Thailand!!!!

  • Paul Piper

Paul enjoyed his tour so much last year, he has committed his long term future to Darjeeling. We welcome him back with open arms. Paul managed to compete admirably in the off field antics, and we look forward to another competitive performance.
