Darjeeling Cricket Club are the oldest amateur cricket club, based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, formed in 1969. A Western Expat club, members are cricketers from England, South Africa, Australia & New Zealand.
Darjeeling are one of the few teams that have been participating in the Chiang Mai Sixes since its inception. 2014 saw Darjeeling win the Bromley Shield with a hard fought encounter with the Clifton Hill Stray Cats, our most successful year to date.
Our 2018 sponsors are Virtuzone, and Fagerhult. And for the Chiang Mai Sixes we are proud to have The Lotus Pub back on board as our local sponsor.

George Appleton
Mr. Darjeeling, Life Member, Ex Chairman, Ex Club Captain, he has done it all for Club and Country. Team skipper last year, always full of positivity & offering words of wisdom. Due to Darjeeling' limited number of players may be required to don the green & gold for a final time (we say that every year). Fairly tight with both bowling and wallet, a lower order slogger.

Mitchell Barrington
We have managed to recruit somebody under 50!!!! This is Mitchell’s 3rd time playing at the sixes. Our 17 year old from Australia, right hander, who is a very handy all rounder, he has been part of 2 winning finals. He is looking forward to making it hat-trick with Darjeeling. We hope he prays every night to make this dream come true!!!

Nathan Cartwright
Nathan' first Chiang Mai outing (TOUR VIRGIN), although he has toured to Bahrain and Bangkok with Darjeeling. An Aussie, but we don't really hold that against him! Our wicket keeping batsman, we shall see how he fares over the longer form of the game, as proven he struggles to keep pace over a weekend tour, lets see how he manages over 10 days. Predictions are on a day 3 melt down.
-
Norman Strickland
Our latest recruit is an old hand in this format of cricket. Norman was delighted to get the call up to play in the Green & Gold, on a FREE from Surrey. A crabby batsman and left arm pie chucker. Veteran of 2008 Cup Final with Surrey Avos (lost) and 2009 Shield Final with Surrey Vagrants (won). Making his 11th consecutive appearance at the Sixes. We will expect him to help guide out Tour Virgins in the "ins and outs " of how they are supposed to behave during the week.

Peter Langton
Peter , or Lanky, is looking forward to his first overseas excursion with Darjeeling, (TOUR VIRGIN), another first timer for Chiang Mai. An Englishman through and through. The man does bat a bit and bowl a bit, watch out for his slow ball beamer, and his deceptive leg side wide. One of the safest pairs of hands in the field that Darjeeling has ever witnessed, target him at your cost, known as "The Barrier" in the Dubai cricketing circles.

Stuart Matthewson
The "Badger" is back, yet again for his 12th Tour. He has promised for a second year running to take in some of the more cultural activities in Chiang Mai, rather than just propping up any bar that will have him till the early hours, downing Chang and Jack till the sun comes up. Although still reluctant to play, his bowling will be required, which has left many a batsman clueless on Thai soil.
-
Umer Saleem
Umer returns for a 2nd tour, last year being a consistent all-round performer. He had a decent bowling performance against the Lords Taverners. In 2017 Umer notched up three not outs, doesn’t like to be called a slogger! Missed a boundary off the last ball of a decisive game, which would of taken Darjeeling into Finals Day. Hopefully Umer will help steer the team into Finals Day in 2018! Umer is Assistant Tour Manager for 2018, during his first tour he managed numerous cultural tours & a couple hours of Thai boxing.
-
Ian Campbell
Ian will be joining the tour on the Tuesday, our English retiree in Dubai is too busy jet setting around the globe, visiting such glamour spots as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Chiang Mai, Maldives, Jordan and Leeds. As usual Ian will console himself at not being able to play (retired hurt) by sipping on long chilled Jack and Cokes.

J.C.
John Croysdill is back with the Darjeeling Supporters Club, he has elected to score for the Club this year. So no one is looking forward to the "reading of the scorebook" after each game!!! J. C. claims to have lost weight for the 2018 tour, so he may be required to don the Green & Gold for the odd game, as one of the fitter men around.
-
Jeremy Coulbeck
Jes has thrown his hat into the proverbial circus, and will join us at the end of the week. In time to witness Mitch's dream of Darjeeling in a Final. Reality then kicks in, and we will find Jes nursing a Jack or two in the Pavilion, will we also witness another of Jes' famous Cricket Quizzes at the team dinner on Friday night?
-
Jim Jeffries
Yes he is back, our flamboyant pensioner from Essex. He will be loving the colours of the tour shirts this outing, as they will reflect his wardrobe, and may actually match with some of his garish clothing!!! Welcome back Jim, the steadying hand, when the madness starts.
-
Paul Piper
Paul is back to once again to marshall the Darjeeling cheerleading section. We think this is his 5th year of pledging his allegiance to Darjeeling. Once again we expect a solid performance from our No 1 fan, and keeping the rest of the motley crew in check.

Tony Morton
Our Tone is back for the third year running, he really must be a glutton for punishment. "The Quiet One" will observe from the borders, and throw his full weight in at the necessary juncture. He will always be dressed to allure the ladies, so watch out gals!!!!
