The SBCC and the Saturday Night Beavers form the cricketing arm of Castor Repletus Athletic Pursuits, a global, multi-disciplinary sporting and social club with players and supporters drawn from many walks of life and corners of the globe.
It’s another milestone year for the Beavers as we mark both the 35th anniversary of our first fixture and, surprisingly (from an endurance perspective rather than an appearance one), the 60th birthday celebrations of co-founder Chas. We’re delighted to be able to field two teams and to welcome an enthusiastic entourage of supporters to join the festivities.
We are mindful that there will be occasions during the week when the Beavers will not be on the field of play providing cricketing thrills and spills for all to enjoy and to this end we thought it would be helpful to provide some alternative entertainment for those quieter moments. Please feel free to download our SBCC Player Cards and create your very own Stuffed Beavers Top Trumps pack!
Instructions as follows:
Print each of the player cards from both the Stuffed Beavers and the Saturday Night Beavers team pages;
Use some double-sided sticky tape or a small amount of UHU (or a similar household adhesive) to attach each player card to an identically-sized piece of cardboard. Old cereal boxes are particularly good for this, however do ask the cereal box’s owner for permission first;
Using a pair of scissors, trim around the curved edges of each card – ask a handy adult to help;
Lastly, apply some stick-back plastic all around the card to give it a protective sheen so that you can enjoy many hours of Top Beaver Trumping!
(Hint: once completed, never pass up the opportunity to say “here’s one I prepared earlier”)
Finally, we are very grateful to our corporate sponsors, PRS Fire Risk Consultants and Mister Squirrel, for their generous support of our shiny new shirts and their unwavering commitment to the Beaver cause. If you are in need of a Fire Risk assessment, or some nuts, do drop by our tent during the week (although very sadly Mr Squirrel himself, Andy Nutkins, is unable to tour this year – we send him our very best wishes!).
