Floggers & Robbers Players

  • Alastair "AMG" Morgan

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Being the son of a sponsor he obviously made it in the team on merit alone. The perfectionist that he is he first exposed himself to the game as a carpenters apprentice making stumps and bails. He favoured this approach in order to gain a deeper insight into the real essence of the game. After mastering the wood lathe he did a short stint in Jammu & Kashmir in India understanding the intricacies in making a cricket ball he is one of the few authorities that can recite British Standard 5993 from memory.

  • Andy "The Olympian" Papadopoulos

(Hellenic Republic / Thailand) - - A team without Andy would be like the world without Greece. A culture that has made some of the greatest contributions to modern civilisation, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, Olympic Games, a Salad and Andy. Unlike his mother-lands economy, this Greek legend is here to stay. If you see Andy out on the field and he looks like he is going to collapse from exhaustion / dehydration or something that you don't know the name of, DO NOT be fooled, looks can be deceiving. He is hairy but he is happy, harmless and handy with a bat.

  • Ant "I'll take a drop" Robertson

(New Zealand / Thailand) Not one to shy away from the competitive arena this well rounded New Zealander is true to his country's name. He was designed for sport; yes every sport because apparently he is the best at it. He often doesn't play a sport because there is no challenge in reaching perfection, thus why he sticks with golf. Returning after recent injury very little can stop this athletic great. Ladies and gentlemen we are in for a treat. I only hope he knows he is going to Gymkhana to play cricket.

  • Anthony "Achilles" Jackson

Jackson (Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Returning again to the crease after intensive rehabilitation, staring injury in the face and challenging achillian-adversity. Unlike the city of Troy, this historical relic rises again to bring siege to the enemy. NB: Please do not arrange any activity after 7pm or he will not be available, and that is not because there are no flood lights, it's because he will be in bed.

  • Bradley "Only One Kenobi" Pike

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Brad was turned down from Star Wars auditions because he was too realistic as a Jedi. Prepared to be in awe of his prowess. Once again being released and allowed to play by his key sponsors we welcome another big hitter to the team. Brads affinity to cricket is that it reminds him of his misty forest training with Master Yoda. You might as well keep the ball in your hand chaps of extend the boundary because Bradley will hit it.

  • Cavan "Could be your boss one day" Gardner (Earth)

I don't know this chap, in fact, I only heard about him when I got to his name in this list. This should scare you, because just imagine, if nothing is known about him just imagine how good he could be, yes I know there is also equal probability that he is shocking, but the glass is always half full with us (well actually it is always full, but that just doesn't sound right… I digress). Actually one thing I did hear about him was that he turned down an IPL contract to be an AOI Trainee, 'my hero'.

  • Chris "Fine Line" Allen

(England / Thailand) "The constant fluctuation of everlasting change is imminent. This does not take into consideration the overwhelming possibility of a contradictory dichotomy that neither shows the true meaning of its own meaning, emphasising but not meaning its true meaning. It is not so much, as so little, as to do with what everything is, but it is within our own interests to understand its own topography. The future states that there is no time other than the collapsation of that sensation of the mirror of the memory of which we are living…." If you understand that then you will understand Chris.

  • Dave "DSLR" Ring

(Cymru / Thailand) - Dave first came on the scene at the advent of the Kodak Brownie, he was able to really capture the feeling of the game because luckily there wasn't much high speed motion by the F&R's. Now equipped with the latest in DSLR technology Dave can be found peering through the view finder, balanced on a very sturdy and very erect tripod. It remains in question why he needs such a big zoom lens; apparently it has nothing to do with the CNX Chassis.

  • Dave "Rubber Arm" Hird

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Enter stage left, for his 38th CNX 6's.... Dave Hird. To say "Rubber Arm" is back would be wrong, because he never left. Having to lead from the front due to the inconsistency of a succession plan, this all-rounder has many moons left in him yet. His arm is so rubber he actually convinces himself. Currently taking time out from writing a Trilogy, 'How to avoid playing the CNX 6's' / 'How to not pay at the CNX 6's' / 'No seriously now, how not to play at the CNX 6's'.

  • Glyn "Get My Money's Worth" Morgan

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) Having the presence of a key team sponsor adds depth to this field of dreams. Glyn has reluctantly transitioned over to the 5 over form of the game, preferring to the 5 day test so that he can get his money's worth, he has been known to do this in other ball and stick sports. Glyn can be found wearing a Panama, sipping a G&T with a close eye on the correct disposal of sponsorship funds, I hear the Sponsors Banner will be a postage stamp this year.

  • John "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" Wood

(Cymru / Thailand) - John is much like his alias, doesn't look real, but it actually is. A formidable force when he has perfect conditions and a valuable asset to any team. Originally entered 'Himself' as a team in the CNX 6's, it was only the rules that stopped him. He can field, he can bowl and boy can he bat. We just show up because the rules say so; John has got it all covered. A product of the best of British Public Schooling, this is where he refined his art.

  • Leandro "Are you sure I don't need a box" Silveira

  • Marcus "Khun T" McKay

(England / Thailand) Marcus will surely be remembered for an astonishing 30+ runs made in his first over in his first appearance at the CNX 6's, the only problem was that he was bowling!! With GREAT regret this namesake will not grace the field this year with his athletic genius, he is well suited in the support staff, we don't know why yet because he is apparently still looking for an excuse.

  • Mike "The Slammer" Green

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Drum roll please……. Is it a plane, is it a bird, no… its Mike "The Slammer" Green. A hero to some and a terror to most. He is often spotted with his loyal disciples in toe acting on his every word. But YOU must watch every word; YOU must watch every step because the Slammer is on its way. With the ability to change the outcome of a game any team would want this greatness in its presence. With his trade mark 3-step-run-up the team would be lost without this leadership.

  • Simon "Lefty" Grant

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Forcing himself to become a left-hander because he couldn't make the team as a right-hander, we again see his dedication to such a vital community event. Able to play anywhere and keen to demonstrate his depth of ability, Simon is becoming a regular in the highly competitive team. Simon adds balance to the team, we all don't want to be too happy now do we!! Regarded as a true role model to up and coming F&R's academy youngsters. Lefty is certain to follow in the footsteps of the great hall of famers.

  • Wally "Bubble Gum" Pohl

(Zimbabwe / Thailand) - Does this man mountain need an introduction? How can earthly words do justice to his grace? Deception is the greatest asset that this veteran of veterans has. Agility, nimbleness, stamina and finesse are mere tricks for the needy he compensates for this with sheer brute force, a liberty he takes with his team mates also. He once told me that he can do a handstand and even a one handed handstand upside down; yeah exactly, figure that out. Known for his last minute decision making to throw the competition of guard!!! The F&R's without Wally is the Bangers without Mash, the Khao without Soi, the Sadza without Relish, it just would not be complete without him.
