Blythswood

The Rock Star Club that is Blythswood CC is touring Chiang Mai for the 18th time. We are not quite the Rolling Stones, more like Herman's Hermits or The Travelling Wannabees! Formed in 1947 as a church club the nucleus of the team were choirboys! Under tutelage of the Right Reverend Chap and because of the excellent acoustics of the confessional and showers, Blythswood developed a reputation as mediocre cricketers but excellent tenors. Blythswood's harmonious and melodic appealing is renowned for swaying umpires and opposition players. Sometimes even being asked for an encore. Blythswood CC even has its own brass section, which we hope will tour Chiang Mai one day.

Blythswood Players

  • Chippy Hutchence

Aussie recruit and hardly a New Sensation!

The only relationship to INXS is that he will be in excess of the normal number of visits to local entertainment venues! Don’t Change we all nod!

I Send a Message that we Need you Tonight only for him to Disappear from By My Side when it’s his turn to shout! This however, is no Original Sin around here!

So whilst Chippy Will Never Tear Us Apart, as we rely on him to chase down the runs to enjoy our beers, however the Devil Inside tells us it will only end up in Bitter Tears!

  • ErRod Brown

It started with a swing and a miss,
In the grounds of The Gymkhana,
    How could I resist,
The slammer shot of vodka ?

Everyone's a winner, baby (except Blythswood), that's the truth (that's the truth),
Playing sixes cricket with you is such a thrill,
Everyone's a winner, baby (except Blythswood), that's no lie (that's no lie),
You never fail to satisfy (satisfy)

Last year it was a case of:
So you win again, you win again,
Here we stand again, the losers !

    This year it is:
    I believe in miracles !

  • Lovee Donovan

Years ago Lovee stumbled onto a Chrissee Day cricket match in Ramsey Street with the Neighbours. Kylie and Lovee struck an immediate friendship between the wickets, sheets and fish-nets. Unbeknown to many some of Kylie's greatest hits are based on watching Lovee play cricket at Dog Sht Park: "I can't get it off of the square!" "On a track like this, I can score forever!" "Spinning Around!" "You're so fking lucky!" Blythswood are hopeful that Kylie will perform at Pig Picking soon.

  • Luke Sheeran

After winning Brentwood's Got Talent and co-starring in TOWIE, Luke finally has time off from his touring schedule of the great stadiums of Canvey, Southend and Wanstead !
He can finally indulge in his first passion, Nok from Zombie Bar and cricket.
A wily bowler of arm balls and deceptively straight ones, he asks all batsman to "Love the Shape of this". Apparently he has many "Bad Habits" but the plethora of backpackers in Chiang Mai should help him find a "Galway Girl" or two !
But let's hope 🙏 he doesn't go "South of the Border!"
    Welcome to Blythswood, Luke !

  • Maso Young

Maso Young (is he really ACDC ?) has 'pulled a few strings' on his favourite guitar🎸to once again join Blythswood for a 3rd consecutive year, and he will be sure to have the crowd 'tuned' in with his allrounder skill set on & off the field. He has kindly offered both Singing🎤 & Air Guitar🎸 lessons after each day's play and will be available for signing autographs on body parts this year🖋

  • MC Thommo

    My, my, my, my,
    (You) can't touch this,
I hit the ball so hard,
It makes me say "Oh, my Lord",
    Bless me with a boundary,
    (You) Can't Touch This.

    My, my, my, my,
    When I bowl the spin,
The flight is like a king,
    When the ball is pitched,
The off stump takes a tumble,
    (You) Can't Touch This.

    I field like a leg-end,
    And, that's no lie,
    Running around the ground,
    To catch the ball,
I take it like a cat,
    And that's a fact,
    U can't touch this.

  • Mirz Jagger

    If you start me up
If you start me up I'll never stop (jimming)
    If you start me up
If you start me up I'll never stop (paddling)

Well, this could be the last time (I come to Chiang Mai)
This could be the last time (I come to Chiang Mai)
Maybe the last time (I come to Chiang Mai)
    I don't know
    Oh, no Oh, no

  • Rosie Michael

Let me take you to the place,
    Where membership's a smiling face,
    Brush shoulders with the stars.
Where strangers take you by the hand,
And welcome you to wonderland -
    From beneath their cabanas...

    Club Blythswood, drinks are free,
Fun and sunshine - there's enough for everyone,
    All that's missing is victoree,
But don't worry, you can suntan!

Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go (to the slammer sessions) !

Blythswood Supporters

  • Chas Stewart

Have I told you Blythswood that I love you,
Have I told you there's no one else above you,
    Fill my heart with gladness,
    take away all my sadness,
ease my troubles that's what you do

    When I need Lovee,
I hold out my hand and I touch Lovee,
I never knew there was so much of Lovee

If you want my body and you think I'm sexy,
Come on, Lovee, let me know,
If you really need me just reach out and touch me,
Come on, Lovee, tell me so

  • Crusher Garrett

Crusher Garrett, the hard hitting allrounder has always had dancing skills similar to Peter Garrett from Aussie Rock Band, Midnight Oil.
Whilst on the long term injury list, he still loves to hit the dance floor with a Thai Whiskey in his hand.

    How can we bat
    When the ball is turning
    How do we field
    While the sun is burning

  • DreadZZ Top

If Blythswood ever had a "Sharp Dressed Man", DreadZZ is he! A charmer and a chameleon who appreciates "Legs", who has gifted many a lovely lady a "Pearl Necklace" in his time. Expect the unexpected, assume nothing and enjoy the roller coaster that is DreadZZ. "Gimme All Your Lovin!" He makes them do all the work on and off the field!

  • Freddie MoreCurry

One of Blythswood's most loyal and longstanding ( if he doesn't fall over) supporters. Even "Under Pressure", Freddie is always our "Best Friend." His love of ""Fat Bottomed Girls" and "Killer Queens" means he is always warmly welcomed in Thailand.
BKK, Pattaya, Hua Hin and Chiang Mai all go "Radio Ga Ga" when he arrives. All because of that, "Crazee Little Thing called Lovee!"

  • Keekii Manobalborn

Keekii is a Thai rapper , singer, dancer and actress.
Born and raised in the foothills of the mountains in Chiang Rai, Keekii returns for her 2nd Sixes having taken time off from touring with South Korean girl group Blackpink.

  • Maxim

Faang and Fern are the "Twisted Sisters" and "Dynamic Du-owe" that run the mighty Maxim Bar, and are also great supporters of the Sixes and Blythswood.
Come in to spend a penny, and if you are lucky enough you might find yourself on The Maxim Wall of Fame\Shame ! Many a cricketer is featured in the Maxim gallery !

  • Robbed Williams

Robbed's life motto is "Let Me Entertain You." When Robbed left "Take That" in 1995, the teenage fan base of Blythswood were devastated. On field performance dropped and bar takings plummeted, but more importantly the choruses in the showers became monotone and lifeless. But Robbed being the leg-end that he is decided to "Rock DJ" to reinvigorate the club, and despite being the victim of credit card fraud (Donut and Rhino), remains "Sexed Up" and is always trying to find a "Better Man!"

  • The Vicar of Dibley

Blythswood's heavenly Angel is back for a second year, but in her true guise as The Vicar of Dibley performing one of Blythswood's theme lyrics, "We will, we will, rock you" with backing vocals by non other than Kylie Minogue.
