UN Irish had two sides in the competition in 2014 but neither side covered themselves in glory on the field and were overshadowed by the local success of Gymkhana Cavaliers and San Miguel Thais. Sandy’s dream remains for a local side to win the cup competition and new captain Richard Cowles looks to have put together a strong side. Roddy Lorimer’s sons both had excellent tournaments for the Drifters in 2013, while two outstanding cricketers from Pakistan are returning to Chiang Mai having toured last year for Ctrack. Hamish Weir is a competitive Kiwi who hits the ball hard and bowls leg-spin. Sandy has been a great supporter of local cricket and hosts the Sixes warm-up competition in tribute to Ian MacDougall, so let’s hope his team puts up a good show this year.
