Ios Malakas had won the Spoon in 2018 and 2019 and so were looking for a hat-trick of honours in 2023 but the fact that only four teams played in the Spoon meant that three successive defeats to start their campaign was not enough to get them into the fifth tier Malakas won one of their matches in the Gentlemen’s section last year so again made it into the Plate last year and they even made the semi-finals where they lost to Plate specialists Tokyo Dingbats on fewer wickets lost.
