St Helier RFC CC

St Helier RFC CC was formed over 30 years ago as a mid-week social side playing limited overs league and cup cricket in Jersey as a way of keeping the rugby club together during the off season. Whilst the rugby side folded a number of years ago, the cricket club keeps going with a strong social element!

St Helier RFC CC Players

  • Dean 'Dingo' Morrison

Dingo is our tour guide having previously scoped out the area and flexed his book of contacts to get us an 'in' to play. One of the younger members of the party, he hasn't aged well, hence the mug shot from when he was a younger man!

  • Ian 'Shocker' Crocker

Brother of Nige, Ian is despite his name not a bad allrounder who is happy to turn his hand to anything. - Dress sense is sometimes questionable... A good tourist who's not shy!

  • Jonny 'JMack' Mackintosh

JMack used to play cricket. Still loves it and joined the Club last season and is still searching for his long lost perfect line and length. Bought his way on tour by promising his wife and family their dream holiday to the Far East and then slipped in that he'd be heading out early for a week of cricket.

  • Micky 'Mental' Poulter

Mick ran the Club for best part of 30 years. A proud Yorkshire man he led the Club to numerous cup successes on home turf during his time as skipper and has nurtured talent along the way with his infamous 'Poulter's pointers'. Never one to follow a classic coaching text book, his knowledge of the game is hard to question and understand!

  • Nigel 'Wheelie' Crocker

Nige is our 'Mitchell Johnson'. A left arm seamer who also likes to give the ball a good smack! What goes on tour needs to stay on tour. Arguably a good shout that one of his team at work is a late dropout!

  • Sean 'Ferrero' Roche

Ferrero is one of the longest serving members of the Club. What he lacks in fluid play now, he more than makes up for in emotion. One of the first to put his hand up and buy a round after every game, Sean had a proud Dad moment at the last Club Awards' night when his son picked up the Young Player of the Year award.

  • Shane 'Alvin Stardust' Whitwell

'Bowling' has come out of retirement for this one. Also goes by the name of 'Leopard' following one random night out when he ended up asleep in a tree. Just don't get him onto the topic of white carpets.

  • William 'Churchie' Church

Churchie is our leader! A longtime member of the club, he picked up the reins a couple of years ago when its continued existence was being questioned. With determination and leadership he has recruited well and the Club’s ethos is as strong as ever, even if not all results go our way. A natural all rounder who bats (badly), bowls (with varying degrees of success) and keeps with a unique ‘crocodile’ action when called upon to do so!
