It has become apparent that because of the effects of the spread of COVID-19 across the world that it is no longer possible to hold the 2020 Chiang Mai Sixes from 29th March to 4th April as we had planned. We are facing a global pandemic and governments are increasing their actions against the virus and a multitude of sporting events have been cancelled.
It is clear that the only appropriate action for us to take is to cancel the 2020 Sixes. We deeply regret having to take this drastic step but we will start looking ahead to 2021 immediately. The dates for the 2021 Chiang Mai International Cricket Sixes have been announced. The 33rd edition of the Chiang Mai Sixes will now be held from Sunday 4th April to Saturday 10th April 2021.
It has been a difficult decision to cancel the main event as we were aware than several teams were hoping to continue with their plans to travel. We have now also decided that it is also highly unwise to continue with any plans to hold any replacement event during Sixes Weeks as many governments are increasing their travel restrictions and their advice to avoid social gatherings and to stay at home as much as possible.
We are able to offer teams the choice of rolling over the team fees they have already paid to pay for their participation in the 2021 tournament or receiving a refund of the 2020 fees subject to exchange rates and the bank charges involved. Full bank account details and SWIFT codes will be required., together with home address and phone number.
Thank you to all teams for your understanding and support.
